Who’s playing who in the FA Cup Quarter Finals? Posted On 22 February 2019

The FA Cup quarter final draw took place on Monday night. Here’s a brief guide to the final eight teams playing for the most celebrated cup in English football!

Manchester City

The Premier League champions beat League Two, Newport County 4-1 to qualify. They’re still playing to win both the Premier League and Champion’s League, but with Pep Guardiola’s large and talented squad, including back-up players like the talented Phil Foden, they’re the clear favourites again this year.

Swansea City

The mid-table Championship side came from behind to beat Brentford, with a memorable goal from youngster Daniel James bringing back memories of Ryan Giggs. After relegation last year, Swansea have held on to most of their first team squad and could be ready to cause an upset.

Watford

Riding high in the Premier League, Watford are one of the surprise packages of the season. They beat Championship strugglers QPR 1-0 in the last round and manager, Javi Garcia, will hope for more of the same when they face Crystal Palace in the quarter-final.

Crystal Palace

After a slow start to the season, Crystal Palace have moved away from the relegation zone with some excellent results against the big six, having beaten Man City and Tottenham and drawn against Arsenal and Man United. In the last round, they beat League One’s Doncaster 2-0.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves are another surprise package in the Premier League this season. Managed by ‘Nuno’, who led them into the Premier League in his first full season, this Wolves team has a definite Portuguese flavour. It was Ivan Cavaleiro, one of their Portuguese stars who scored the only goal in their fifth-round win against Championship side Bristol City.

Manchester United

Smiling again and full of the swagger and confidence they are known for, Manchester United have now scored 30 goals in their last 12 games. Champions League hero, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has woken the sleeping giants and brought attacking, exciting football back to Old Trafford. They are second-favourites for the cup.

Millwall

The second Championship side in the quarter-finals, Millwall beat League One’s bottom club AFC Wimbledon 1-0 to reach this stage. Sitting just above the relegation zone, manager Neil Harris will hope a cup run will be just what the team needs to avoid dropping down to football’s third tier.

Brighton

Chris Hughton’s, ‘Seagulls’ are three points above the relegation zone in the Premier League and are now heading to the “Lion’s den” when they face Millwall in the next round. Glenn Murray is the joint sixth top goal-scorer in the Premier League this season and they will hope he can put them through to the semi-finals.
